Study aboard at Saitama Medical Center for three months in Japan

Dr. Wang Xian, attending doctor of the Department of Anesthesiology of Women’s Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, was financial supported by the Jiangsu Health International Exchange Program to study aboard at Saitama Medical Center (SMC) from August 01 to October 28 in Japan following professor Katsuo Terui.
SMC is one of the three teaching hospitals of Saitama Medical University founded in 1892. Maternal, Fetal, and Neonatal Medicine in SMC is one of the oldest tertiary perinatal centers in Japan. Scope of practice at Center for Maternal, Fetal, and Neonatal Medicine includes, but not limited to, antenatal ultrasound screening, fetal diagnosis and therapy, management of high-risk obstetric patients, critical care obstetrics, emergency medical and surgical care for pregnant patients, high level neonatal care, developmental care, neonatal surgery, and neonatal/pediatric cardiology.
Other the clinical observation, Dr. Wang Xian also participated the daily morning meeting in the Anesthesiology department, as well as the 59th Japan Perinatal Meeting held in Shinjuku. This study experience not only broadened our knowledge, but also provided us more international exchange opportunities in the future.
