Nikolaos P. Polyzos, clinical and scientific director of reproductive department of Dexeus University Hospital in Spain, paid a visit to the reproductive centerof Nanjing Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital in April 11. Professor Polyzosalso works in the faculty of medicine and pharmacy in Free University of Brussels in Belgiumand the department of clinical medicine in the University of Aarhus in Denmark. He focuses on reproductive endocrinology, ovarian reserve markers, poor ovarian response to stimulation and genetics of premature ovarian ageing.To date, Professor Polyzos has published more than 130 articles in peer reviewed journals indexed in Pubmed with more than 2300 citations and an h index of 27 in ISI web of Science.

Professor Ling Xiu-feng, director of the reproductive center in Nanjing Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital, extended a warm welcome to Nikolaos P. Polyzos and praised him for doing wonderful jobs in the clinical application of GnRH antagonist protocol through in vitro fertilization (IVF).

Professor Polyzos, at first,addressed a lecture on the details of GnRH antagonist protocol during clinical practice, including when to start gonadotropin and antagonist, when to trigger, how to support luteal phase, and how to avoid ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. Then, he had a heated discussionwith Chinese doctorsabout theconfusions and puzzles in IVF daily practice. His professionalism, modesty and friendliness left a deep impression on all the present staff.After the discussion, Professor Polyzos visited the clinical center accompanied by Professor Ling.

Professor Polyzos said it was a great honor to have this friendly visit to Nanjing Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital and he was looking forward to cooperate and work with Professor Lingin the near future.
