SPECIAL INTERESTS: ProfessorXu has been working in the areas of medical genetics and prenatal diagnosis for more than 20 years. His interests mainly focus on establishing and applying advanced diagnostic technology for the prevention of congenital defects in human.With his efforts, a complete diagnostic system has been established in the hospital, including chromosome karyotyping, array comparative genomic hybridization (CGH), Sanger sequencing, next generation sequencing (NGS) and multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification (MLPA). He also applied the non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) technology in the hospital, which is based on the free fetal DNA circulating in maternal blood. Also, Professor Xu experts in genetic counseling, genetic diagnosis and fetal material sampling, including amniocentesis, cordcentesis and chorionic villus sampling (CVS).
